The 28 letters
Arabic has 28 letters and is written from right to left. There are no capital letters, but most letters change shape with their position in the word:
- Isolated: ب
- Initial: بـ
- Medial: ـبـ
- Final: ـب
Six letters never connect to the letter after them: ا د ذ ر ز و. Learn the letters in groups that share a shape, such as ب ت ث and ج ح خ.
